Will be great news if it's down for good. Though another million or so to go.

BTW: I came across this site (http://www.quantcast.com/javtalk.com) searching for information. Never heard of it before, but it's interesting.

Well, I've been told they even refunded their advertisers, shut down, so it's a decision-based shut down, so that is good news, safe to assume they wont be back :)

Was a great site for surfers, horrible site for us japanese paysite affiliate marketers

Their hosting company must know about the cp. Their servers are loaded with it. I KNOW that's been reported.

It's loading super fast for me right now :( 1400 alexa and rising

They posted:

"Sorry about the downtime yesterday/today, Our backup HDD failed, and in replacing the drive, the data centre technicians managed to break our primary HDD"

Here is some news I found about javtalk

First, here was the heirarchy at JAVtalk.

Pollywogs (Owner)
|
John-SA (Paid Site Admin)
|
Admins (AsianPhreak and myself)
|
Global Mods (k7500, oroboy, champloofan, and maybe one other)
|
Watchdogs (too many to list)

Here is all of the information I have. I have been holding off because I was hoping for an official statement by the site owner - he never responded to me - and also because I wanted scanlover's blessing on revealing this information as it has risks for SLF. He has given it to me.

Background Info:

1. For those of you won't didn't know, JAVtalk was owned by the owner of AsianScreens.com
2. Rumor has it that AsianScreens' business was suffering due to the economic downturn.
3. Also, there was a rumor about AsianScreens having to address some copyright issues related to their business.
4. There was a paid admin who had run the site.
5. The site owner hadn't really used the site in 2 years or did anything but pay the bills.
6. The ads/donations were to help pay the bills.

What Happened:

1. A copyright infringement notice was sent. I'm not sure to the paid admin or to the ISP. Also, I'm not sure what content it was regarding though I'm trying to find out to tell scanlover.
2. He took the board down and resigned because he said he was unaware of having any US copyright material on the board.
3. It appears a week later the machine the board was on was wiped and the DNS entries removed.
4. The owner has never replied to emails nor made a public statement via AsianScreens.

I believe JAVtalk is dead forever unless there is an ownership change. The site owner was paying out of pocket for something he no longer used except for some modest referral traffic to AsianScreens and probably doesn't want to deal with the legal issues. Now if someone wants to try to contact him and try to buy/take over the domain to do something with it, you can try.

Final note to all (both JT and SLF users). Assume JAVtalk is dead. Please drop all the board comparsions. Also, please drop whatever issue you had at JAVtalk. Treat SLF as a clean slate.

I got some more details. The notice was from a legal firm and contained a threat of a lawsuit and was sent to both the ISP and Pollywogs. Pollywogs did not respond to the ISP about the issues so they felt they had no choice but to take the site down. As I said earlier in the thread, Pollywogs really hadn't been involved except paying the bills for a long time.

Unfortunately, my source has not seen the letter.

Wow, well, I guess it's a good thing then, that it's off, hopefully the other torrents/illegal shit comes down too

BUT, I dont think they will, it seems to me that the Javtalk owners dont really know about "the biz", and found it easier to just pull down everything
...that's my opinion

Dude, Asianscreens is/was selling burns, as in DVD-r's...
Let me clear up the air about International copyright. Once the images go in a lens and into the operators eye, thats copywritten. If camera op is NOT doing it for a work for hire. HE owns the copyright and can license images to whoever he wants. Unless he is shooting in Burma or some fascist regime state with closed borders... Copyright extends internationally.

You guys have to get a grip on this. Asianscreens troubles are just beginning. I hope they get everything coming to them... All those years, all that revenue... LMFAO!!!!!!! - They gonna have an expensive bill, legally, and from their cell mates who will surely tear them a new asshole every night. LMFAO!

JScott, its not a matter of re-directs or anything, man. These people are stealing food from real companies. From talents mouths.

I am at AEE in Vegas right now. So much good news going around... I almost want to celebrate.

Not only do scam sites like asianscreens, javtalk and akiba have to sweat, their ISP's have to sweat. Their ISP's are getting hit with all kinds of shit right now... And its about fucking time.

When you download and then upload to a torrent or forum, or rip a DVD YOU are STEALING!!!!!!!

I agree with you man, totally....

but as a tgp'er and an affiliate we look at things like, I'm just talking about that domain, I mean, if I owned www.cumfiesta.com and I have a site that gets 40k/day traffic and I shut it down, I would direct that 40k/day traffic to my site that makes money

Get what I'm saying? Their shit is all illegal, that's for sure, but they've done it, are doing it, and shut down Javtalk, I'm just saying that's crazy they dont put that traffic to some use rather than just "page not found"

javtalk still probably gets hit a TON a traffic even now

I hear you, man.

It's just these guys have been strangling our business for so long...

I agree with you on the re-directs, but for them, I hope the only re-directs they deal with soon are ATM oriented, as in porn scene sex...

They wouldn't last 5 minutes if they tried... ISPs are getting hit in the new year.... They will have a decision, lose a client or lose their business...

our lawyers have orders, shoot all thieves, shoot survivors a second time.

looks like you have bots again....
